Top Kitchen Gadget #1 Vitamix Blender
The high speed Vitamix blender is a very important kitchen tool to help support a health lifestyle.
The Vitamix is so versatile! You can make smoothies, juices, sauces, dressings, flours, etc. It is one of those items that you can even take with you on trips and vacations to stay on task!
We have purchased many a blender, but we have found that the Vitamix is more capable and easier to use. Also, because it is so well built and has such a powerful motor it will last for years to come no matter how often you use it. And we use it!
A Vitamix blender will cost you over $400, but look at this as a long term investment. It will last you 10 or more years – even if you use it every day (and if it doesn’t they have a warranty that will cover it!) We actually bought one on Ebay for less than half of the retail price, so you CAN buy them at a more affordable price.
Top Kitchen Gadget #2 – A Good Knife
Getting a great knife, or set of knives, is essential to making your food prep enjoyable.
A good knife adds efficiency to your food preparation and it also feels really good in your hand.
A good kitchen can go for $50-150 and if you take care of it, it will last a lifetime. Make sure to get one that can be sharpened. Serrated edged knives are great but when they have some age on them they will start to dull and you can’t sharpen them. The new ceramic knives work well, but they tend to chip very easily.
Top Kitchen Gadget #3 – Food Processor
Just like the Vitamix, we use our Food Processor almost every day.
The food processor is great for making chopped salads, shredding vegetables like cabbage, beets and carrots, and it’s also fantastic for making crusts, cereals or spreads. Some can even knead dough for that great whole wheat bread that you make! It’s ability to shred without using a hand grater makes a food processor one that will save much time in preparation. The speed and efficiency of just this task makes your investment in a food processor that much more essential.
A good Food Processor will cost you between $150-400. These machines are so good that you may be able to find one second hand and still use it for years. Do your research. Cuisenart, Oster and KitchenAid have great machines to choose from and they tend to last for many years.
Top Kitchen Gadget #4 – Mason Jars (Ball Jars)
Mason jars make this list over a lot of different gadgets because of the frequency that we use them.
For about $6-12, you can get 12 mason jars at your local grocery store. If you look around, you can also buy used jars and get the new lids and rings at the local retail store. You can even get them free! When we buy some store bought food products, we use the mason jars that they may have been packaged in. However, try to use the news ones only for actual canning to make sure that you have jars that work properly.
For the price and their versatility, they have to be on the list. They’re a perfect low cost solution to sprouting trays, storage containers and drinking glasses.
Top Kitchen Gadget #5 – Juicer
Juicers are one of those tools that is not absolutely necessary but if you are trying to get your health back on track or have a serious illness, vegetable juice is what you want to use to supercharge your health and reverse disease, along with a whole plant based diet.
Juicers like Champion, Greenstar and Greenpowert. The Greenstar and Greenpower juicers are best and make awesome juice and retail for about $400- $500. The Champion juicer is a great starter juicer and runs about $200-$300.
Top Kitchen Gadget #6 – Dehydrator
The Dehydrator is great for the raw foodists that wants to keep the nutrition in the food intact. It is also great for food preservation purposes.

A dehydrator is a great machine for those who are transitioning (to a healthy diet or eating more raw food) or preparing food for others.
The price of a good Excalibur dehydrator is about $150-300. You can also find second hand on Craigslist or on Ebay.
